On Thursday, November 15, 2019, the Connecticut Department of Transportation's Young Engineers Group and the Connecticut Institute of Transportation Engineers hosted an informal networking and social event at The Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt in Hartford, Connecticut, on the banks of the Connecticut River. The event was sponsored by New England ITE and Connecticut ITE.
Attendees braved the first snowfall of the year to meet.

On Monday, March 26th 2018, the Connecticut Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, in conjunction with the New England Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, hosted their Annual Joint Meeting at the UCONN Graduate Business Learning Center.
Keynote speaker Richard Andreski, of the Connecticut Department of Transportation Bureau of Public Transportation, discussed Connecticut's key challenges and outlined the State's opportunities moving forward. Technical sessions focused on multi-modal planning and pavement maintenance were held during the afternoon. Joseph Rimiller received the President’s Award, James Staniewicz received the Herbert S. Levinson Leadership Award, Ted DeSantos received the Transportation Achievement Award and Alyssa Ryan was awarded the Student Scholarship. An election was held and 2018 officers were announced.

Congratulations to the winners - Matt Skelly, Ted Desantos, Kristen Solloway, and John Guzze. After golfing participants enjoyed a cookout and raffle. Proceeds of the event will benefit CSCE and CT-ITE's scholarship funds.

ITE-CT hosted Tom Maziarz of ConnDOT's Bureau of Policy and Planning as the evenings keynote speaker to highlight the State's latest Complete Streets initiatives. As part of their annual meeting, the Chapter recognized Michael Morehouse for outstanding service to the State Chapter; J.A. Koolis, Jr. for his many years of dedication and leadership within the Connecticut transportation industry and Joseph A. Hallisey for his longstanding commitment to excellence within the ITE organization. The Chapter nominated Craig Yannes as President, Joe Rimiller as Vice President and Kevin Burnham as Secretary/Treasurer for 2016 - 2017. Finally, immediate past President Kwesi Brown was awarded the 2015 President's Award in appreciation of his outstanding service as President of the Connecticut Chapter.

Topics included ‘The Finance of Our Cities’, ‘Transportation in the Next American City’, and a discussion of how Strong Towns principals can be applied to local projects. Over sixty members of ITE-CT and CCAPA participated in the event.

Matthew Roe of NACTO offered a technical session on 'Design Guidance for Real Streets' which Norman Garrick, Nicholas, Lownes, and Karthik Konduri of UCONN discussed 'New Research in Urban Transportation Systems.' This year's keynote presentation was provided by Hillary Isebrands of the Federal Highway Administration, who discussed 'Planning and Designing for Safe, Efficient, and Smart Roadways.' Ranjit Bhave, Norman Garrick, Michael Morehouse, and Sofia Nirschberg were recognized for their dedication to the transportation industry and participatation in ITE CT. Radhameris Gomez was awarded the 2015 ITE Connecticut Chapter Student Scholarship and Officers for the upcoming year were announced.

Seventy engineers, planners, and transportation professionals participated in the 2015 ITE/ITS Joint Winter Meeting at Villa Capri restaurant in Wallingford, Connecticut. Mohammed Bishtawi and Mary Baker highlighted the evening with a presentation on CTDOT's accelerated rehabilitation of two I-84 bridges over Marion Avenue in Southington. Mr. Bishtawii and Ms. Baker discussed design options that were considered, construction staging, detour strategies, and public outreach efforts. 2014 Fall Meeting
The 2014 fall meeting was highlighted by a series of presentations highlighting project innovations used for I-84 Hartford. CTDOT's Richard Armstrong kicked things off with a project introduction. Dave Stahnke from Transystems lead a group that discussed 3d survey scanning, traffic data collection, and traffic analysis and microsimulations. CTITE Fall Meeting Presentation - I-84 Hartford
Project Innovations.pdf. Video of their I-84 corridor VISSIM simulation is available upon request. The meeting was attended by 62 participants, several of which continued on to Plaza Azteca for post-meeting drinks and appetizers.
Tenth Annual Transportation Student Research Symposium
ITE Connecticut, New England ITE, and the UConn School of Engineering hosted the tenth annual Transportation Student Research Symposium on April 2, 2014. Students discussed exciting transportation related research projects during presentation and poster sessions.
CTDOT Commissioner James P. Redeker and State Representative Antonio Guerrera served as keynote speakers. Members participated in a tour of the new mixed use Storrs Town Center and Intermodal Center. The tour was led by officials from the Intermodal Center and engineers who designed the facilities. CT ITE Awards were presented and CT ITE officer elections were held.
CT ITE/ITS Joint Annual Winter Meeting
The Connecticut Chapter of ITE hosted the annual joint winter meeting with Connecticut Chapter of ITS on January 28, 2014 at East Side Restaurant in New Britain, CT. Over 75 attendees from the private and public sectors attended.
The technical session was on “Integration of Wireless Detection Strategies for Various ITS and Intersection Application” presented by Robert Blasi and Gregg Hoffman of Traffic Systems, Inc. The dinner presentation was on “CTFastark- Transit at the Speed of Life” by Brian Cunningham of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Joint CT ITE/WTS Golf Outing
CT ITE and WTS held their annual golf outing on June 26th at Traditions Golf Club in Wallingford, CT. The event was a success and a good time was had by all. Congratulations to the winners Prime Engineers (George Dumas, Brian McGovern, Bob Thornber and Russ Moresi).
CT ITE / NEITE Joint Spring Meeting
CT ITE and NEITE held their annual joint spring meeting on April 2nd, 2013. The meeting was a huge success with over 90 members in attendance. The meeting included a a technical session about Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning, a practice Traffic Bowl between CT ITE professionals and UConn and UMass Students, CT ITE officer elections, CT ITE Awards, and a panel discussion Predicting Transportaiton Needs - A Sustainable Approach.

8th Annual Transportation Student Research Symposium
The “8th Annual Transportation Student Research Symposium” held on April 10 at the University of Connecticut was a huge success. The symposium included presentations and posters from students of 13 universities across New England, who showcased their current transportation engineering related research. The lunch and dinner programs included CT ITE award presentations, CT ITE officer elections, and presentations from Chief Engineer of CTDOT Thomas Harley, Executive Director of the Windham Regional Council of Governments Mark Paquette, and Director of Policy and Planning for the Capital Region Council of Governments Mary Ellen Kowalewski.
Winter Meeting 2012
Our Joint ITE/ITS Winter Meeting was a success! Over 60 attendees met at
the East Side Restaurant in New Britain, CT on January 31, 2012. The dinner presentation was given by Robert F. Kenny, Jr., Emergency Management Area Coordinator from the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, and William Austion, Homeland Security Contractor from the Capitol Region Council of Governments. The presentation discussed
the emergency preparedness and aftermath following Hurricane Irene and Winter Storm Alfred. See Photos Below.
2011 Spring Meeting
Our Joint NEITE/CTITE Spring Meeting was a success! Over 90 attendees met at the Manchester Country Club in Manchester, CT on April 12, 2011.
Two technical sessions, which preceded the social hour and dinner presentations, included an update on the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Project by David Carol of Parsons Brinckerhoff and a presentation on the I-84 Viaduct Study by Jennifer Carrier of CRCOG and David Spillane of Goody Clancy. Dinner presentations by Paul Brady of ACEC CT and David Kooris of the RPA discussed regional transportation issues in funding and advocacy. PDF’s of the presentations can be found on the Archive tab.
Congratulations to Joe Hallisey for receiving the Service to the Chapter Award, Jay Koolis for receiving the Transportation Achievement Award, Rob Aloise for receiving the President’s Award and finally to Joe Balskus for receiving the Transportation Leadership Award.
